Warrantech in Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Broken refrigerator

My refrigerator broke in mid February 2029. Today is April 9th and it is still not fixed!! The technician has been to my house twice and ordered parts each time. He was on the phone with support both times because he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Then he says he needs to order a third part. Numerous phone calls later I’m told they’ll a senior technician but I’d have to wait a week and a half. Ok, fine. The technician was supposed to call me today to tell me what time he’s coming tomorrow .... he never called. I can’t tske a day off work to sit around and wait for a guy that may never show up. Warrantech ought to be held accountable for the horrific service they provide.

The contractors working for AHS and all home warranty companies are sellouts in order to keep the costs down. The contracted plumber, for example, only gets $100 per claim and has to fix it for that or get the claim denied.

Same with the other trades. There is a low flat rate price across the board that forces the contractor to pay for all the parts and the labor for the service fee. If they don’t get it done, or want more money, they are fired. AHS, like all the other home warranty companies, abuse the contractors.

Home warranties promise a contractor a high volume of low-paying (expensive) claims that require the contractor to go into debt without reimbursement. If they ask for reimbursement, they are let go. If they don’t ask for reimbursement, they get more calls—so many they can’t do them all in a timely fashion. I know you are probably thinking, “that’s not my problem” but that’s where you are wrong.

Was your service good? Did they fix your stuff?

AHS took my monthly payment for 6 months only to find out they couldn't find a contractor to repair my fridge after 2 weeks. They refused to give me my money back. No one ever came to my home for repairs. I had to follow up for 2 weeks and then they charged me to cancel my policy. TOTAL RIPOFF. The funny thing is they emailed me to come back and offered $100 to do so. Wow! DO NOT SIGN UP. THEY DON'T FOLLOW UP UNLESS IT IS TO GET YOU TO SIGN UP.

American Home Shield - why are you guys so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i called about my refrigerator about a mouth ago. thank to you guys and your very bad costumer service, its still not fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!. we have been dealing with this problem for over a mouth. Why are you charging for this poor service. The managers are just as bad, they cant fix no problems. nobody follows up on the customer complaints. they have hang the phone up on me and never called back!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time to buy yourself a new refrigerator, as repairing kitchen appliances is nowadays a questionable venture at best. The lifespan of appliances, even major ones, is so short, that seldom are they worth repairing, unless you have the ability to do it yourself.

Even then, the cost of parts and components have to be weighed against the cost of a new appliance and the risk of an unreliable repaired appliance. You’ve been duped by a home warranty that claims to handle all of these decisions for you. They do handle them, just not in a timely manner, and not without tremendous angst on your part, and not in a manner that has your best interest in mind. Their best interest is all that is taken into account.

The repair company cannot charge you or the home warranty for the parts—basically all they get paid for us the service fee. It costs too much to go get more parts and try again.

Your fridge is unreliable and you need to cut your losses and cut the home warranty loose (cancel that plan) and go get what you need yourself. It stinks but that is the best way to handle your affairs.

No there is no better home warranty company. the problem is they don’t pay the contractors and you don’t pay the contractors either.

If nobody pays the contractors with actual money and not the hope of more calls whereby they lose more money, nothing will get better. On each call, the contractor is gambling that there will be a denial possibility, or some non-covered items the customer will pay for, or a quick no-parts-needed repair. If your repair falls into the category of needing parts or replacement, be prepared to wait! Control boards are especially expensive, prone to failure, and always special order.

AHSis not even paying for the part, so express shipping is never an option. The contractor has to eat the cost of parts and will lose money each and every time parr’s are needed. The only reason they continue to work for AHS is to get more calls and roll the dice again. You AHS customers are rolling the dice too, betting that you will save money.

However, it is impossible to save both time and money.

You have to choose one or the other. By going with any home warranty, you are choosing to go the cheapest way possible, so quit complaining.
